Women trust us to design swimsuits that are made for movement and give them the confidence to feel sexy when they’re the most exposed.

Andréa Bernholtz - Our Founder and Her Journey

As a mother and “fashionista” Andréa is inspired to give women the confidence to celebrate their own bodies.

SWIMINISTA, celebrates female energy and body positivity. This is reflected in Andréa's collection of sophisticated designs, engineered to enhance a woman’s body with lift and support in all the right places.

In her second fashion line, California-based Andréa remains true to her commitment in reducing the impact fashion has on the planet and softening our footprint by using luxury recycled fabrics to create her entire collection.

Andrea’s first fashion line, Rock & Republic made an impact on the denim industry with innovative fit technology, and grew the line into a full lifestyle brand, offering an expanded runway collection, cosmetics, and shoes. Her denim designs attracted the attention of Victoria Beckham and led to the first of the celebrity’s fashion collaborations. For 11 years, Rock & Republic showed twice a year in Paris and New York and was globally recognized, selling in Neiman Marcus, Saks, Harrods, Galleries LaFayette, and major specialty boutiques, plus 3 stand alone stores in the US.

During a vacation in Mexico, Andrea and her friends found themselves complaining about the swimwear options available to them, and the persistent issues they faced with swimsuits that never fitted well. They didn’t have the support, they didn’t stay put, and they seemed to be designed for 20-something bodies. Not for chasing children, or sophisticated vacations around the world.

“We spend all this time finding underwear that fits perfectly and supports our bodies during the day, but that design technology isn’t reflected in swim, which seems crazy given it’s something we wear in public”.

The conversations inspired Andrea to research more by speaking to other women and that’s where she saw a gap and realized, she had never found a suit that she put on and felt perfect, it was a lifelong search to find a swimsuit that was chic and sexy, but just as supportive as her favorite bra and adjustable so that it fit exactly where it needed to.
